Energy poverty (also known as fuel poverty) is a current day challenge faced by many people all over the world. It is a situation in which the under-consumption of energy may be a challenging issue for some people. It can be related to people having difficulty accessing or affording energy. It can also be related to the conditions of housing people live in and whether or not these are energy efficient. It can also be related to the varying needs of households, that differ from household to household. Energy poverty in Canada has been gaining public attention but still remains underexamined. With more research we hope to better understand and address energy poverty in Canada.
